What is 192.168.225.1?

192.168.225.1 is a private IPv4 address used as the default admin gateway on JioFi pocket 4G hotspots from Reliance Jio — the portable MiFi units (JMR and M-series). The device acts as a small router, handing out 192.168.225.x addresses over its WiFi, with itself at 192.168.225.1. The same page answers to the hostname jiofi.local.html. It's an RFC 1918 private address, reachable only from a device connected to the JioFi.

Note: this is the portable JioFi hotspot address. JioFiber home broadband routers are different — those use 192.168.29.1.

Default username and password

This admin login is separate from the WiFi key printed on the device label or inside the battery cover — one connects you to the WiFi, the other signs you in to the settings page. Change the admin password after first login.

How to log in to 192.168.225.1 — step by step

1. Connect to the JioFi's WiFi. The network name and key are on the device label or inside the battery cover.
2. On a phone, turn off mobile data first. This is the most common reason the page won't load — see the warning below.
3. Open a browser and type http://192.168.225.1 (or http://jiofi.local.html) in the address bar, not the search box. Use http://, not https.
4. Sign in with administrator / administrator (or admin / admin).
5. Manage the device: change the WiFi name/password, check the data balance and battery, see connected devices, or read signal strength.

The mobile-data trap (read this first)

When you connect a phone to a JioFi, the phone notices the hotspot has "no internet" during setup and may silently switch back to mobile data — taking you off the JioFi network, so 192.168.225.1 can't be reached. The fix: turn off mobile data on your phone, reconnect to the JioFi WiFi, then open the page. On Android, also disable "automatically switch to mobile data" for that network. Re-enable mobile data when you're done.

How to change your JioFi WiFi name and password

After logging in, open Settings → Wi-Fi (Network) Settings, edit the SSID (network name) and the security key, then save. "192.168.225.1 not working" — fixes

• Phone fell back to mobile data: Disable mobile data, reconnect to the JioFi, retry (see above).
• Try the other address: If jiofi.local.html won't resolve, use the numeric 192.168.225.1, and vice versa.
• Use http, not https: The admin page is plain HTTP; an HTTPS redirect will fail.
• Turn off VPN: A VPN routes your request away from the local device — disable it while you log in.
• Login rejected: Try admin / admin if administrator fails, or reset the device.
• Forgot everything: Hold the reset button under the battery cover ~10–15 seconds to restore label defaults — this clears your settings.
