1. Information We Collect

When you use SpeedTestHQ, we may collect certain information related to your network connection to perform the speed test, including:

  • IP Address (to determine location and server proximity)
  • Network Latency (Ping/Jitter)
  • Download and Upload Speeds
  • Device Type and Browser Information

2. How We Use Your Information

We use this data to:

  • Provide accurate speed test results.
  • Diagnose network issues.
  • Improve our service performance.
  • Publish aggregate benchmarks and guides without building personal speed-test profiles.

3. Analytics, Advertising, and Engagement Technologies

SpeedTestHQ may use analytics, advertising, and engagement technologies to understand site performance, support free content, and show or measure advertisements. These technologies may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, or similar browser-based methods, depending on the provider and your location or consent choices.

We do not keep a personal history of your individual speed-test results tied to your identity. Advertising and engagement providers may separately process technical and usage data such as IP address, approximate location, browser and device information, pages viewed, identifiers, and ad or content interactions.

4. Third-Party Services

SpeedTestHQ relies on the following third-party services to function. Each service may receive limited technical data (such as your IP address, browser information, page URL, or interaction data) as a necessary part of its operation:

  • ipify (ipify.org) — Used to retrieve your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. ipify receives your IP address as part of this request. See their privacy policy.
  • GeoJS (geojs.io) — Used to determine your approximate location, ISP, and ASN based on your IP address. See their terms of service.
  • LibreSpeed public nodes (librespeed.org) — Speed tests are conducted against community-operated LibreSpeed servers (hosted by providers such as Hetzner, BuyVM, netcup, NixNet, GARR, and others). These servers receive your IP address and test data during the test. LibreSpeed is open-source software licensed under GNU LGPLv3.
  • Analytics providers — Used to measure traffic, page views, events, content performance, and site reliability. Analytics providers may process technical and usage data such as page URL, browser and device information, approximate location, identifiers, and on-site interactions.
  • Grow / Mediavine (mediavine.com) — Used for engagement, monetization, advertising, audience features, and performance measurement. Mediavine, Grow, Journey by Mediavine, and their advertising partners may use cookies, pixels, tags, or similar technologies to deliver and measure advertising, personalize content or ads where permitted, detect fraud, and understand interaction with advertising or site features. See Mediavine's Legal & Privacy Center and Ad Partners disclosure.
  • Google Forms — Our contact form is hosted by Google Forms. Any information you submit via the contact form is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your individual speed-test result history. We may share or allow third-party services listed in Section 4 to process technical, usage, advertising, and interaction data so they can provide their services. Some privacy laws may define interest-based advertising, ad measurement, or certain third-party identifiers as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.

6. Your Privacy Choices

You can control cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings. You may also use browser-level privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control where supported. For advertising choices, review Mediavine's privacy controls and ad partner disclosures linked above, and use industry opt-out tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative or Digital Advertising Alliance where available in your region.
